  • May 01, 2017 Wonderful, Fun Composition

Highly recommend, an engaging composition that holds your interest, a wonderful piece well worth one's time. It's a strong, impressive composition & fun to play. Though has six flats don't let that deter you..it has lots of repetition which facilitates learning. Many parts of this piece would...

be fun for even 'intermediate +' players with a little persistence.

  • March 25, 2012 Khchaturian "Toccata" for piano solo

This is an adequate re-print of this popular Toccata. Not bad for $4.As for the work itself, I consider the piece to be less difficult than this site suggests (very advanced). I recall memorizing it some 30+ years ago but dropped it not too long after. It is...

in A-B-A form. The 2 A sections are fast, and being in e-flat minor (6 flats) the fingers are frequently on the black keys making it relatively easy to read and play. I find the slower rhapsodic B section to be a bit more difficult. Overall it sounds more difficult than it is to play.

  • June 17, 2010 A contemporary but versatile piece

My goodness...the reviews here range from those claiming this is a beginner level piece that they played when they were 10 to those that say it is an insanely advanced song that requires "overwhelming" practice time. Neither of these are true - it is certainly a more difficult piece due...

to its fast performance tempo and some tricky rhythm spots, but if you've played a Beethoven sonata or perhaps a Rachmaninoff prelude, its around the same technique level. An energetic, lush piece that will be received well in recitals and similar events, though i.m.o. is too "show-off"y of a song to choose for an audition.

I received my first standing ovation after playing this piece when I was a little kid (14) because it sure packs a hell of a lot of excitement. But this piece is not nearly as difficult as it sounds and I do not think it should be classified as "very...

advanced." Looking back years later this piece is still a very rewarding piece to play. The tones and harmonies are beautiful. It sounds hard as hell and if played well will knock the audience out their feet. I highly recommend this piece, especially for young pianist looking to build and expand their repertory.

This is an excellent work by a composer whom I met years ago when he was in Indianapolis. I played this piece for my senior recital and lost the sheet music years later. So, when I ordered it from you, it was exactly the same. Wonderful and exciting to play...
