Excellent choices and very good editing, especially for a collection of this type. Popular but not pop. We are enjoying revisiting old favorites and experiencing new classics, such as Bach f minor in book 2 WTC.

This book contains many numbers I played as a young pianist. I enjoy sitting down and just playing, watching techniques and dianamics. Great book for those of us who still play after years at the piano.

  • January 28, 2009 I wondered about duplication

Love them. I looked for duplication of pieces from vol 1 to vol 2 and found only Debussy's "La fille aux cheveux de lin" in both. You still have 191 pieces to enjoy! I look for collections for my older students so they don't have to purchase volumes...

of a single composer's pieces. This gives them a more economical exposure to the wonderful variety out there. The students not only can enjoy playing some of the pieces which are at their level, but also see how challenging music can be, so that they can appreciate the hard work of artists they hear and be inspired to apply themselves. I agree with another reviewer that ornamentation, as well as some other notation, is clearer in other versions, but my complaint is not enough to toss these babies out.
