Comprehensive Musicianship
That was Dr. Pace's term for his approach. He set out to get away from the three Johns who used the Middle C approach. It's effective in partner lessons or classroom/groups. I like the new revised editions. One page covers a lot and he advised to use the material as a starting point, to explore a concept. It works. He was head of the Piano Dept. at Teachers College, Columbia University. We had a dynamic group of teachers, Atlanta Pacesetters, with visiting clinicians (actual composers of the Recital Series). I've returned to teaching and find that students still learn more this way. Pace teachers have since published their own method, based on his approach. Bottom line, I keep learning as well as my students progress!
