  • April 18, 2011 not the actual concerto

I thought that this collection is generally excellent with lots of good pieces in it. My main criticism is that the concerto is arranged for solo piano rather than having a solo part and orchestral part, despite the fact that other pieces in the collection are for 2 pianos

If you are looking for an easy way to get your hands on a complete collection of Gershwin's major works, this is it. The arrangements are merciless, but worth the battle. Some of the selections are written for solo piano, others for multiple performers. This book could keep an...

There is nothing more to say, then this is truly amazing. I may be only 15, but I know quality sheet music, and this is quality sheet music. Although this book is exceedingly difficult, it is apparent that these are the closest, if not the original transcriptions of some Gershwin...

's most wonderful pieces. Although Rhapsody in Blue is difficult, and it is for two pianos, it's not hard to integrate the two parts in order to play it. At the moment that is what I'm working on. If you can get recordings of Gershwin actually playing this, it'll be easier to see where he integrates this part with that part, and so on and so forth. I recommend this to any accomplished pianist. It has all the preludes, and it is a book that every pianist should have in their library.

Although I purchased this book and enjoy using it, I only find myself playing the preludes...I don't look at Rhapsody in Blue or I've Got Rhythm for Two Pianos If you're looking for the rare preludes that you can rarely find, get this book, but in...

my opinion, you would be better off finding the Three Preludes for Piano in its own book and getting other selections A la carte, if you even desire them.
