ISBN 9790006204359. 6.5x9 inches.

An amazingly inexpensive study edition presenting all of Bach's clavier music in four large, handy volumes containing the definitive Urtext from the New Bach Edition. This unique edition was prepared by internationally recognized scholars on the basis of all known sources and the latest research findings. Besides familiar versions of many pieces, the reader will also discover widely divergent and heavily ornamented variants from Bach's immediate circle. Many of these variants appear here for the first time in print. Generally the contrasting versions faithfully reflect the state of the sources: hybrid versions of the sort often found elsewhere have been strictly avoided. An indispensable and reliable edition for all admirers of Bach's clavier music.

Does anyone happily buy study scores? If you need orchestral scores Dover in full size are better than miniature scores, and often still cheaper. But keyboard scores "for study", whatever that means, could easily be sourced from the cheaper editions. Do yourself a favour, buy performance sized. Even people with...

excellent short distance vision in maturity will have problems with light and shade.

  • November 10, 2016 "Piano" music? Come on fellers!

Basic research will show that Bach did not write music for the piano. He wrote music for the harpsichord which can be played on the piano but he did not write for the piano as such.Call it "keyboard music". That's fine. Don't call it "piano music" because...

that's a lie, a distortion and a gross misrepresentation of reality.

Missing some suites, sonatas and capriccios, Henle's published it. The books don't seem to last very long. Smallest print I've seen in years, and very thick. Pity that most editorial marks are in German only, but the edition itself is great. Fairly complete (except the ones mentioned...

above), this is a reliable basis for study but not for performance. For performance, get Henle.

Great collection and the most complete one there is of Bach's keyboard music! Although quite smaller in size than a performance sheet as well as containing lots of pages per book (about 750) - makes it a little uncomfortable to sight read or learn the music on the piano; nevertheless...

, it's an enormous and priceless collection that is well worth the price. A mandatory book collection to any serious scholarly piano student or a teacher.Being a doctorate student myself I find this product to be invaluable for Bach's music scholars and music lovers alike!

New Bach Edition is an excellent choice. Too many pages per volume, is not easy to manipulate then (but have a good bind, and complete Bach`s piano works in performance edition is too much expensive) The best: the most complete edition. Extensive appendices.
