For the first time, an adult course has combined Lesson, Theory and Technic sections within one book. This combined approach offers beginners a unified course of instruction. This course is for adults who prefer a chord approach. It teaches chords for both hands so that the student can play more than single note melodies. At the completion of this course, the student will have learned to play some of the most popular music ever written and will have gained a thorough understanding of the basic concepts of music. This book includes a CD that has accompaniments and rhythms for songs in the book.

  • February 13, 2018 Thank-you Alfred's

What a wonderful book; so well written and so clear for the older person to actually play the piano with two hands from the beginning. I am now 76 it has taken me three years to complete combined with other supplementary Alfred publications, maybe a bit slower than others, but...

none the less so satisfying to be able to play the piano, even if the pieces are is simply/easy arrangements. Thank-you Alred's. I am so proud of that Certificate at the back of the book that now has my name on it.

I am enjoying this book thoroughly. I had begun my studies with the Dozen A Day series with the late Edna-Mae Burnam and before I finished those I over stepped myself and went into the Schirmer's Library of musical classics for early Bach. Those pieces are not arranged...

in order of difficulty and I was in trouble fairly quickly. My teacher suggested we start over and really learn the basics thoroughly with the Alfred's Adult All-in-One. I am about a third of the way through the first book and I really, really love the way it carefully progresses with theory and technique. I am going to stick with this complete series, all 3 volumes, before I use anything more advanced. The music selections are very satisfying and sound great during practice.

I've always wanted to play the piano but never got round to it. Now at 52, I've just started with Alfred's Adult All-in-One Course - Level 1. This book is amazing. Everything is explained so well that I'm able to learn by myself without the...

help of a teacher. The accompanying CD is of great help. It has been only a month but I've completed half the book and look forward to finishing it & then starting level 2 & 3.

  • February 09, 2008 Good Book/Poor CD

I like working from this book. It's easy to understand and has a lot of great songs. However, the CD is of such poor quality that it's almost painful to listen to. The music is not recorded on a piano, but on what sounds like a toy keyboard...

that is VERY tinny sounding. Plus, the background music is so distracting that I have to listen with only one side of my headphones. I got the book/CD combination so that I could hear what I was trying for - but I don't know if it will be of much help.
