Scales and Pieces in All Keys features valuable writing exercises and easy pieces in all keys allowing teachers to introduce scales early in the second year of study. By pairing the scales with easy repertoire in mostly stationary positions, the student not only gains valuable experience in executing ascending and descending scales but they are able to perform pieces and demonstrate an ability to read music in all the major and minor keys. Pieces include folk tune favorites and classical repertoire by Strauss, Schubert, Brahms, Schumann, Beethoven, Liszt, and more.

Scales and Pieces In All Keys I
Great book for beginning students! I always start my students working with scales, usually Scale Skills by Kjos. This book is a great companion to that, offering little pieces in each key that helps the student practice the scale.

A must for the beginning piano student.
This is a wonderful find. I recently changed from a teacher who did not instruct using scales as a beginning tool. This book introduces major scales and gives simple exercises for understanding. I am using this book along with Czerny-Schaum scale exercises and the two together improve flexiblity in playing. I have also ordered level E and F Schaum books to expand my exercise program. I recommend it for all 2nd and 3rd year piano students. Instructing without the scales is a dead end road to no where. It produces instinctual playing or so says my teacher.
