When I was asked to play this sweet old gospel song as a piano solo by the mother of the bride for a wedding a while back I was challenged because the bride herself wanted the whole wedding to be filled with strictly classical music. So I wove a little Chopin into the gospel tune and the result became a hit all the way around. The suggested fingering will help you navigate the flow as well as some twists in the flow of the accompaniment passages. The opening has the melody in the left hand, then the melody shifts to the right hand where the beautiful middle section of the Fantasie Improptu leads. The piece closes with a nice intermingling of the two musical ideas. The option for a shorter version is noted on the score. The level is listed as advanced largely because of the key (D-flat Major) and because the Chopin excerpts are presented as he wrote them. This arrangement is appropriate for just about any occasion, even in secular settings.
