Excellent book for intermediates!
This is a great book for my intermediate students! Some arrangements sound more simple than others but all are equally beautiful!

Lovely arrangements!
I love these arrangements of traditional hymns! My favorite is the unique arrangement of Just a Closer Walk with Thee. The entire book is wonderful and not too difficult. I would call it late intermediate. Very satisfying, unique and beautiful arrangements!

Beautiful classic hymns arrangements
As one reviewers said, the hymns in this book are easily prepared by an experienced player. On the other hand, I would not call them early intermediate. An early intermediate player would really struggle with these arrangements. I guess it all depends on your definitions of intermediate or advanced.In any case, these are very pretty, classic hymns arrangements, appropriate for church preludes or offertories (for which I plan to use them.) One thing I particularly enjoy about this book is that Melody Bober doesn't deviate from the original feel of the hymn. I have found many hymn arrangements with drastically altered rhythms or harmonies or transpositions to minor keys that radically change the hymns. That is not the case for this book. Bober maintains the original beauty of the hymns she chooses and compliments with a beautiful arrangement.

A Call to Prayer
This is a wonderful book. The songs are challenging and contain a great variety. I started with the easier ones and will be happy when I've learned enough to tackle the harder ones. They are all beautifully done. Melody Bober is always trustworthy. Her music includes chords and arpegios, which I like.

Goodbut not advanced
I personally like Melody Bober's works and I was interested in her arrangements. In whole it has her contemporary touch and may not be elaborate as other arrangers but expresses the words of the hymns. Sometimes, simpler arrangements communicate better and these arrangements are the case. I played Amazing Grace and many told me they felt peaceful during the service. Though it says Early Advanced, I would rate it intermediate, even early intermediate for some pieces. For experienced pianists very little preparation shall be needed. For intermediate level pianists you can work on it for a few weeks and have it ready.
