Flute solo (unaccompanied) - Difficulty: medium
Composed by Georg Philipp Telemann (1681-1767). Edited by Gunter Hausswald. This edition: urtext edition. Stapled. Barenreiter Urtext. Baroque. Flute solo book. TWV 40. 25 pages. Baerenreiter Verlag #BA02971_00. Published by Baerenreiter Verlag (BA.BA02971).

Item Number: BA.BA02971

ISBN 9790006428236. 9x12 inches.

The Fantasias for flute without bass address themselves less to the virtuoso than to the amateur flutist, who will find everything he wishes in these pieces. Although Telemann himself may have lost track of his works, the many flutists who have perfected their technique and musical interpretation with the help of these lovely Fantasias will never forget them.

This music is transcendent. I am getting so much enjoyment out of exploring this music. The paper quality is excellent, and the Epilogue at the end of the score is most interesting.

For the well-rounded flutist (but also oboists play these!), the Telemann Fantaisies are a must-have in your library. And this edition format is my only go-to, Urtext (which means unedited). These are also a pleasant material for the budding piccoloist, wherein range stays in the first two...

octaves thus allowing that student to well sort out clean technical and in tune playing, along with acquiring the nuances of the Baroque style. Some of the fantaisies are certainly easier than others (ones that are a more in a traditional one-tempo per movement structure).

This music book was given to me as a gift. I haven't played anything that challenged me like this. It is very nice. I am still trying to figure out all the dynamics of it.

  • November 08, 2010 Fantastic!

I borrowed this from my teacher for an exam and loved it, so decided to buy it. It's great because it's as close to the original as you can get, aka no annoying interpretations, true baroque style! I love adding my own interpretation and this volume allows me...

    to do that :)
