Appealing repertoire reinforces key concepts and encourages students to explore musical expression through varied dynamics and tempos. A great lesson book, with 2 note chords in the beginning and introducing 3 note chords in the middle. Most of the music is fun for the student. As a teacher, it uses pentascales in the music in a very melodic way. Students enjoy playing this music. The secret to...

getting a student to play is to get them to enjoy the material

This series is very good for young and older learners. The artistry and performance books are good supplements as they have lots of songs to practice. I would pass on the theory book unless you are a teacher. For the self-learner I am finding that it basically repeats what...

's in the lesson book plus there are no practice songs in the theory book.

  • February 19, 2009 Logical and fun for 8-year old boy

My son has been playing piano for 19-months. He started with the Piano Adventures Lesson Book, Primer by Randall Faber, Nancy Faber. Then moved on to two Level 1 books by the same authors. He started on two Level 2A books last month and has had no complaints whatsoever...

. This is from a kid who is the sporty, outdoor type. He started 45-min. lessons last month with the Level 2A. Last week he told me that it seemed like the lesson was only 5-10 minutes long...he was having so much fun. The level 2A books are not overwhelming and they are very logical. Sometimes I think they may be a bit too easy but then again I realize that they are just building his confidence. My secret wish is that my son will continue to enjoy the piano for many more years and this series of books is very supportive of this.
