Gustav Holst's well-loved hymn tune in the style of a lyrical jazz ballad. This arrangement reharmonises Holst's melody and includes variations in an improvisatory style. The piece starts simply and then employs a fuller sound and richer harmony but its quiet and gentle character is preserved throughout. It is suitable for all Christmas occasions whether as a solo piece or as background music.
