My schedule is hectic and everchanging. So I was excited to find away to "take lessons" at my own time and pace!

I really have enjoyed your Teach Yourself Music books. They are very easy to use and very easy to understand. This one is my second book and I have showed my Piano instructor these books also, and I believe she has ordered a couple.

  • May 30, 2008 A great intro for understanding Jazz

This book/CD is great! It explains how to play Jazz in a very clear and easy-to-understand way. Especially good if you don't have a Jazz background. The music examples are fun to play along with the CD. I love it!

I found this book and CD really useful particularly for picking up jazz rhythms. I enjoyed playing jazz accompanied by the band on the CD. Therefore I wish that Dr. Konowitz would write a continuation for this book containing longer pieces by Keith Jarrett, Dave Brubeck, Harry Connick, Bill Evans...

, Mary Lou Williams, Chich Corea, etc. I have also enjoyed Teach Yourself to Play Blues.

  • August 23, 2003 Just love this teaching book!

I just wish I had purchased this book and CD months ago. This is an excellent way to teach yourself how to play jazz at the piano or keyboard. There is a great selection of jazz tunes to learn and play, and the author carefully lays out, step by step...

, the methods to get you playing piano jazz fast. I plan to also purchase Teach yourself to play blues at the keyboard too. Just one note: this teaching book does assume you already have a basic knowledge of note reading.
