I am a self taught 2nd year piano student but now have begun training by a professional. This book is excellent for reinforcing basic theory instruction as a first year piano student. It clears up misconceptions, builds on basic theory and reinforces note instruction, scales, vocabulary, chords and their progression...

. It is an excellent tool for proceeding into intermediate theory. I have purchased the Theory Games Software to also test myself on Theory. I recommend the level one Theory Games for computer testing and reinforcment but if you are not into computer games--then this book is truly an excellent tool to reinforce all beginning and early intermediate instruction. I Love This Book!

This book is great, it's a must have to go with the Lesson book. The lessons in the theory book re-enforce the concepts learned in the lesson book.

  • May 17, 2008 Alfred Rocks! :- )

This is an excellent book. It is easy to follow for both me and my ten-year-old daughter and compliments the other Alfred's books very well. We began our piano lessons a little over a month ago and we are learning a lot and learning it quickly.

This title lays a great foundation for beginning pianists. It seems slow at the beginning, but the information gathered along the way is vital to a sure understanding of the instrument.
