In his foreword, the editor outlines the history of the Italian concert form up to the unaccompanied solo concert, whose peak work Bach's "Concerto nach Italiaenischen Gusto" can be regarded as, and thus casually opens up the performance practice for a "clavic symbol with two manuals" (ie for a large harpsichord) ) specific work for the modern piano. This edition of the work, the autograph of which is missing, is based on the first print from 1735, the revised new edition of the same or Bach's manual copy of the print, and four copies.
