Bolcom turns ragtime on its ear - beautifully.
William Bolcom carved a niche for himself in the mid-twentieth century by claiming some of the best of American idioms and turning it sideways. His ragtimes use sudden dissonance and atonality, rapping, stomping, tongue-clicking, lightning-fast syncopation,and punching chords, wrapped inside the luscious sliding harmonies of the early 20th century, and the moderate beats of true ragtime. Get ready to work hard, however! This music is not for the timid but well worth your time.

Bolcom Complete Rags
This is a level of difficulty at least that of Rhapsody in Blue. Graceful Ghost Rag alone is worth the cost of the book Buying the CD this comes from will help in picking songs to learn as well as giving you a high standard of how to play them. It is so difficult to find such advanced music, I'm thrilled to have it.

Good Music!
The songs in this book are so challenging, but fun to learn! Once you master one of these songs, you feel on top of the world! Be warned players though, these are difficult pieces! William Bolcom just loves to tease our fingers!
