This is one of the several dances from the Ballet about a Nutcracker who comes to life at Christmas and defends a young girl from the evil mouse king. The "Chinese Tea Dance" appears in Act 2 when the young heroine visits the land of sweets and is entertained by various characters dancing as chocolate from Spain, candy canes from Russia, and tea from China.
