Composed by anonymous English folk song. Arranged by paul tayor. 19th Century,Advent,Folk,Holiday,Traditional. Score. 3 pages. Paul Taylor #923387. Published by Paul Taylor (A0.1337586).

This tune not only is used for this song, but also for other tunes appearing in hymnals and song collections all over the world. Here it appears in the key of Gmajor with an added version in Ab. The pianist may play one or the other in a recital. Transposition is one of our most neglected skills as pianist and, for that reason, it would be good experience for the pianist to at least "run through" the other version. Suggested pedalling and phrasing is notated for this early intermediate version. The accompaniment is primarily in the texture of a broken chord patterns, with an occasional harmony note below the melody in the right hand.
