Scottish Bobber by Larry Clark String Orchestra - Sheet Music
By Larry ClarkA Bobber is an old Scotts term for a dance. This original piece by ever popular composer Larry Clark hs all of the characteristics found in Scottish music. A lighthearted melody that is presented over accompaniment figures intended to emulate the sound of bagpipes. Another winner from Larry!."Bobber" in the old Scots language is the word for a dance. the piece is an original composition for developing string groups in a Scottish style. The opening figures in the lower strings should emulate the sound of the bagpipe drones. The lighthearted melody then begins and is then followed by a full-ensemble statement of the theme. Care should be given to making this statement full and strong, but keep the forward momentum of the piece and the light nature of the melodic line. The celli are then given the opportunity to carry the second theme with the upper strings taking over the drone effect. After a return of the main theme and finally a short coda based on the C-section material. As with all my pieces for younger students, the tempo indicated is merely a guide. Adjust the tempo to fit the needs of your students. It has been my pleasure to have the opportunity to write this piece. I hope you and your students enjoy it and find it useful for your program.
