R.E.M. is one of my all-time favorite American rock bands. There are so many of their songs I'd love to cover but I figured I'd start with one where the piano is the featured instrument (played by the amazing Mike Mills of course). The circular chord progression that the piano plays creates a hypnotic backdrop for Michael Stipe's beautiful vocal melody to soar over the top of.
