This arrangement presents an adaptation in a new key to transform the original piece (composed for violin) into a version for VIOLONCELLO that fits to the "tessitura" (range) of this instrument, and also, the PIANO part was adapted to make it simpler than in traditional versions, but without losing the beauty of the accompaniment (making accompaniment more accessible for intermediate pianists). The “Meditation” is part of the opera “Thaïs” and is one of the most beloved compositions by French composer Jules Massenet. The opera premiered at the Opéra Garnier in Paris on March 16, 1894 and this piece is originally a symphonic intermezzo in Act II.
