Published by Heather Cattanach (A0.507398).Lacerta quietly basks amongst the members of the Perseid Family of Constellations in the northern hemisphere. Originally called Stellio by the Polish astronomer Johannes Hevelius, it is a small faint constellation that represents a starred agama, a grey lizard with yellow or orange spots on its back or side that can change colour slightly in response to temperature or mood. This piece is built on a scale devised by Messiaen which proceeds in a pattern of tone then two semitones, and opens and closes with his Chord of Resonance built on this third mode of limited transposition. Delicate staccato contrasting with legato playing requires a sensitive touch.
