Written in 1898 for piano solo, Papillon, Op. 6, also known as 'Leptir' is a charming and expressive small piano work painting an image of a butterfly's fleeting movements in the air. The composer, Countess Maria Theodora Paulina "Dora" Pejačević, once forgotten to time but recently rediscovered and widely played is one that all musicians are highly encouraged to keep a look out for her expressionist and modernist style of composition.
Kept in the original key of E minor Suitable for late beginner (all 1st position following ossia) or intermediate players comfortable 1st and 2nd (or 3rd depending on fingering), with an optional harmonic E.
