This chart is based on the beautiful Michel LeGrand melody w/ a similar title. The piece can optionally start with piano solo alone (written out) stating the melody. Saxes drift in over a medium slow swing stating the melody in augmentation. This gives way to a faster rhythm which leads to an alto solo over harmonic pedals. A middle ens section (slower 12/8 feel) spins out thematic motivic development, followed by the faster swing tempo. Trumpet solo over the song changes lead to a dramatic shout chorus. Ending is in a slow tempo, lush & full. Solos: alto, trumpet 2 sets of woodwind parts are provided. One w/no doubles, another with 1 alto/flute, 2 alto/oboe (can be flute), 3 tenor/clarinet, 4 tenor clarinet, 5.bari/bass clar. The two versions should not be mixed.
