Written as a commission for the USAF Airmen of Note, this rapid moving "straight-8th swing" composition is spun out from a 4-note motif. The piece starts with an strong ostinato and fanfarish section, moving through a lengthy introduction of angular unison lines and development before reaching a full melodic statement by unison trombones. After the solo section and a recapitulation of the theme, there is a magnificently massive coda that builds and swells to a triumphant finish. Solos: trumpet, cued for tenor sax, bari sax, trb. 2.
