  • April 09, 2014 love the sound, great for elementary students

This book has been a big help to my learning for several reasons: 1) the songs are very approachable and playable for elementary students. 2) the sound is unique and isn't babyish, even while sounding playful. 3) there is good online support for this book, meaning that there are...

lots of videos of people playing the songs (on YouTube, etc). As an adult student learning by myself, these are some of the things i am looking for when choosing a book.

  • September 26, 2012 My Favorite Series

I love this series. Unfortunately, only the first two books. For some reason I think it loses it's charm after the first two books. All my students (including my adults) love the songs in the first two books because the songs sound like the title so they have meaning...

  • June 10, 2011 Rewarding Music for Elementary Students

I have just started using this series with students in other courses. Wow, what beautiful music compared to most piano courses! This is a traditional middle C approach, but with rich, rewarding music that is not a recycle of stuff you've heard for the last 50 years. The pieces...

are contemporary in style, but not avant-garde. They invite the student to perform with precise articulation and artistic use of dynamics. Having done so, the student has a beautiful piece to show for the effort.I will be making greater use of this course in the future. While I still prefer the multikey approach as a main courrse, this series fills in the missing element of just plain good performance music.

  • March 21, 2008 this is a great book for beginners

I had this book as a beginner pianist over 35 years ago, and now my son is using it. He loves it as much as I did. I still remember some of the pieces from my own childhood!

  • March 05, 2007 Waxman Book

The book was great! I think one can really appreciate the songs in this book. The song "Sunday on the Prairie" has a really smooth sound. Also, a song like "Gallop" provides a workout for your fingers while still sounding like music. Overall, an interesting and highly enjoyable early intermediate...

book that allows one to play "real" music.
