Also, the pulse constantly shifts in subtle ways. Any meditative effect actually comes from the overall Arch form of the piece, in which different voices of the main theme are introduced bit by bit in deceptive ways. The piece is challenging to the performer in presenting several different meter changes and rhythmic effects, as well as specific uses of the pedals. .
