  • March 05, 2008 Great Song

Great Song! Doesn't look difficult with a quick scan, but is indeed difficult to play correctly( As in correct intonations, tone, etc.) Intermediates can play this piece, but will have more trouble with intonations, while advanced will be able to skip through the song peacefully. There is one section...

in the middle of the song that goes to eighth position E string and it is played in 16th note, so that I the hardest part, otherwise ok. Beginners and early intermediates will definitely have problems because there are about 7 lines of double thirds. This song is much like a story. The first line the piano plays is like the waves. THe tide comes in, then retreats. So, there has to be a lot of feeling in this song.

  • September 18, 2007 Nice accompaniment; flimsy paper

This violin/piano version has an excellent accompaniment with rich chord progressions and a moderate amount of tremolos. The piece is printed on rather flimsy paper, however, making page turns difficult as the music tends to flop over or blow away. There is a recording available of Milstein playing this...

piano/violin version, but the piano part is very faint and difficult to hear. My standard poodle is very fond of this piece!

  • February 09, 2007 Captivating, enchanting,lingering melody

This beautiful passionate piece has been my most great pleasure of enjoying and playing. Every nuance, is simply Astonishing and Captivating! The piece has an enchanting melody which lingers in every variation of the theme. The haunting 'Legende' of this Spectacular piece lives on through each individual player, which is...

exactly what Wienaiwski had in mind! A MUST for every passionate advanced violinist-great solo literature. (Leonid Kogan has a wonderful recording of this with the Russian National Symphony Orchestra)
