It became a famous patriotic song during World War II (known in Russia as "The Great Patriotic War") - so much so that even a weapon was named after the song (the Katyusha rocket launcher)!

Both a folk song and a military march, "Katyusha" remains very popular until today - and it makes for a fantastic piano performance!
