The reviewers who say this is a waste of time for experienced pianists must all have recording contracts and be touring professionals. I've been playing for 30 years and I love this book. You can make what you want to out of these exercises. Yes, they are basic minuet...

structures, but there are lots of interesting chord changes and progressions, and opportunities for improvisation. For me, this is as if Oscar Peterson sits down with you in person and recommends exercises to help you get better. I think it is a great book for intermediate players, and even advanced level players can get a lot out of this book.

  • March 17, 2010 Perfect for younger pianists

This is a great introduction to jazz, especially for classically trained young pianists. There is no improvising; everything is notated. Perfect for adding a little jazz to a piano lesson without having to get into improvisation and chord symbols.

I was expecting something more difficult or some exercices like Hannon but for jazz. I was expecting also more jazz riffs according to the artist. This is a beeginner book!

This book is fine for beginner and intermediate students but not for more advanced people. Each item is rather short; I expected more based on the title.
