    I use this book to teach theory for all my beginning elementary age students in second grade and above. It focuses on fundamentals in an easy and fun to learn format.

    I recommend using this book along with the lesson book - the simple explanations help make sense of music theory even for the most beginner beginners.

    I like that this book encourages students to write their own melodies. The kids I teach have loved to do this. Also, there is thorough introduction to note-reading. Since some pages require quite a bit of work, I would recommend the book for ages 8 to 12.
