Holiday. Composed by Nathan Daughtrey. Duration 3:30. Published by C. Alan Publications (CN.17530).

The rhapsodic solo 'A Winter Prelude' uses rippling sticking permutations to explore only the chorus of the popular Christmas song in various harmonic presentations. 'A Winter Postlude' is a lush chorale for marimba quartet, which sets only the opening verse of the carol, giving the melody to Player 1 throughout.

A Winter Prelude and A Winter Postlude were written specifically for recording on Daughtrey's holiday CD, 'The Yuletide Marimba.' The two pieces act as solemn bookends, opening and closing the album with peaceful arrangements of 'Jingle Bells.' The rhapsodic solo 'A Winter Prelude' uses rippling sticking permutations to explore only the chorus of the popular Christmas song in various harmonic presentations. 'A Winter Postlude' is a lush chorale for marimba quartet, which sets only the opening verse of the carol, giving the melody to Player 1 throughout. These two arrangements work as perfect companion pieces to the solo arrangements found in 'The Yuletide Marimbist' book, as well as Daughtrey's other holiday marimba quartet arrangements, 'Deck the Halls,' 'Silent Night' and God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen.-.
