Piano Solo - Level 4 - Digital Download

SKU: A0.954895

Composed by William C. Dix (1837-1898) English Traditional. Arranged by Natalyn Rodriguez. Christmas,Sacred. Score. 3 pages. Natalyn Rodriguez Music #4404414. Published by Natalyn Rodriguez Music (A0.954895).

Another great winter recital number, and a great follower to Natalyn's arrangement of We Three Kings, What Child is This takes the pianist and the listeners through an adventure. It starts with a small, fast-paced, original intro that then jumps up to the higher keys of the piano. This is where the melody is first introduced, and it almost sounds like a music box. Then it jumps back down, using the beginning intro as an interlude. Then the full melody of the familiar tune comes in and makes its way to the chorus. A repetition of the whole melody that weaves through in creative ways (first the right hand up high, then the left hand gets the melody), and then back to the chorus with a quickly-moving baseline. Then everything slows and all that is left is a peaceful, short ending.
