By Sharon Wilson. By African-American Spiritual, Edwin O. Excell, Elisha Albright Hoffman, Emily D. Wilson, Felix Bartholdy Mendelssohn, Folk Song, George Elvey, George Frideric Handel, Johannes Brahms, Samuel Ward, and William J. Kirkpatrick. Arranged by Sharon Wilson and Sharon Wilson Music. Christmas,Easter,Holiday,Patriotic,Sacred. Score. 51 pages. Sharon Wilson #3575105. Published by Sharon Wilson (A0.565203).

This collection of intermediate piano solos combines a prayer response song (benediction) with an upbeat, joyful hymn (postlude). These 12 benediction and postlude combinations provide an easy transition from a closing prayer after a sermon or program to the congregation or audience being dismissed.

The songs are paired based on key to create a flowing sound while transitioning from the quiet and reverent "amen" of the benediction to the louder, bolder postlude. Each of the benedictions and postludes can also be used as stand-alone selections (be played without their "paired" counterpart) or mixed-and-matched with other songs in the collection. There are at least 2 songs in each of the 4 keys represented: C, D, F, and G.

The benedictions (prayer responses) are all 1-page in length and the postludes range from 2 to 4 pages each. Most of these arrangements are new and not included in any other collections, however 5 of the postludes are included in other collections as indicated below. Holiday selections are also included; one for Easter, Thanksgiving, and Christmas, and one patriotic hymn.

Each of the 12 postludes are also available separately with accompanying preview pages and audio samples. The benedictions are only available in this collection.
