In the words of its moniker, baritone saxophonist David Zapotocky, This piece was penned [as a tribute to my] creative driving skills...at the Reno Jazz Festival. The following year - curiously enough - I wasn't asked for my services. Too bad! I really wanted to go off-roading! This chart is a fun piece of funk that features a raucous baritone sax line. The piece was written in 2003 and features a twisted melody and alternates between common and 6/8 time. The trumpets are entrusted with quick mute changes and are colored with the soprano saxophone during melodic statements. The flexatone makes an optional, rare big band appearance during the introduction. Soloists tenor sax 1. Doubles: Soprano1 (alto 1). Tpt. range A6. 5/5/5/G/P/B/D/ percussion.
