After years of teaching piano, Misty L. Butler noticed how many students became overwhelmed and discouraged as they attempted to transition from pre-reading to reading notes on the staff. Misty decided to compose some songs that would introduce the notes on the staff one at a time. Through this approach, students who had been struggling with learning to read music began to make progress, even students of a very young age.
The I Can Learn Music Book, Volume 1, introduced the notes of the treble and bass clef in C Major Position. Volume 2 picks up where that left off, teaching the remaining notes on the staff, as well as learning to play in various positions on the piano. These books are best used as supplemental books to reinforce the concepts of the students' lesson book. Including written exercises and simple songs with singable lyrics, The I Can Learn Music Books break down the process of learning to read music to make it a less daunting task.
