The verses are passed from one section to another, while for the chorus ("Oh, the rising of the sun...") all parts are singing, first in unison then gradually getting more complex as the piece continues. The piece ends with a unison chorus and a beautiful coda of sweet singing.
The parts are not that difficult. There are a few moments of close vocal dissonances, however they are led to via step-wise motion as part of a melodic line.
The piano's purpose is as texture and reinforcement of the harmonic structure.
