Teikn is the fifth of my compositions for solo instruments, and took rather long to compose (although I did compose several other pieces during this period), - from August 1979 to January 1982.
It is strongly related to my earlier instrumental solos like Blik (for clarinet) and Hrim (for cello): based on two motifs - one being purely rhythmical, the other with wide intervallic leaps - and a somewhat longer line or theme.
