Published by Matt Arnett Music (A0.945548).Sunrise on Shrouded Mountains was inspired by many mornings looking east towards the Wasatch Mountains while I lived in Utah. As the sun rises on foggy spring mornings, the day warms and brightens – yet not until the sun breaks the peak of the mountains is the valley truly light. As the fog burns away, the majesty of the mountain range is revealed.
This is a great contrasting piece to program for the middle of your recital. You'll explore both the sweet and heroic sounds of the horn - make sure you save enough to keep building to the apex of the piece at 78. I like to use a little vibrato on the sustained notes from 32 to 36, but that is optional.
