Songs of Slaves is a medley of nine African-American spirituals that were born during the time Africans were enslaved in the Americas. These tunes are inter-mingled in a highly emotional and beautiful arrangement for early intermediate string trio (Violin 1, Violin 2, and Cello). All parts contain multiple solos. The spirituals are: Nobody Knows the Trouble I've Seen, Lord I Want to Be a Christian, Steal Away, Were You There?, Go Down, Moses, O Mary Don't You Weep, The Gospel Train, Twelve Gates to the City, and Swing Low Sweet Chariot.
