The title Song For A New Generation refers to the approaching millennium change. The composition starts with a sustaining bolero-tempo, the themes make their entry, and the music gradually swells to an overwhelming climax. Verder in dit werk vertegenwoordigen enkelewervelende harmonische verschuivingen de onrusten en oorlogen die de mensheid de voorbije decennia teisterden. Op het einde komt het hoofdthema nog éénmaal terug in een majestueuze orkestratie met een knipoog naar het streven naarwereldvrede in 2000.
