Published by TJHoltMusic (A0.1021622).Sea of Faith, Op. 15 is dedicated to the music team at Severna Park United Methodist Church. I composed this piece, in D major, as a means to elaborate on Sonata-Allegro form. The melodic content is based on the progression, II - V - I - vi - V/V - V, which is then brought through multiple tonal centers throughout the piece. In the development section, a response to this progression appears, ii - V - I - V6 - vi - ii - I - V, and is also brought through multiple tonal centers. Both themes appear in the recapitulation, which is followed by a small coda to conclude the piece.
When faced with adversity, it is important to follow God's plan for us and float through the Sea of Faith to reach the promised land.
