Composed by Samuel Wellman. Arranged by Samuel Wellman. Contemporary,Folk,World. Score. 5 pages. Samuel Wellman #3380881. Published by Samuel Wellman (A0.882116).

My arrangement is a lush setting of the tune in a chromatic-romantic style. The short introduction mimics a player improvising on a harp-like instrument; this passage returns to close the piece. There are five verses in unrelated minor keys; after verse three there is a rather dissonant interlude which temporarily upsets the prevailing calm. One of the charms of this Japanese tune is its unusual phrase structure contained in 14 bars.
