This large-scale responsory setting of John 6: 51-2 ("I am the living bread that came down from heaven.") finds Palestrina at his most expansive. This relatively brief text is treated to intricately worked out imitative passages which take some surprising harmonic twists. Each half concludes with an elaborate alleluia section in triple meter.
