This is a short, lyrical melody for flute solo and piano accompaniment. This is for the common, "C Concert Flute," (NOT the "Soprano Flute" which is pitched in E-flat) The music is based on the principal theme of the piano concerto k.488, Mov't of Mozart II and has been shortened significantly. Besides being a popular solo performance composition, this piece has also been used during solemn moments of church ceremonies and services. It appears in concert a-minor rather than concert f# minor.
