♫ Psalm 36 begins with the wickedness of mankind. The center section contrasts this with the goodness of God. The ending is David’s prayer for help based on the qualities of God. As I meditated on Psalm 36, I began to see drama in David’s words about the attributes of God. David spent a lot of time in nature as a shepherd and later when hiding from Saul with his band of followers. I began to connect the metaphors of God’s qualities with sights David would see, living with the sky as the roof over his head.
