This gentle piece allows for playing with different tone colors. The minor sections can be more dark and brooding. When the light starts shining through at measure 19, your sound can be more bright and flowing. Directions for general moods are provided. Dynamics and phrasing are intentionally left for the student and teacher to work together to decide what they feel is appropriate.

Light Through the Darkness introduces the clarion register without going over the break. The main theme introduced in concert g minor prepares the notes, its return in Eb major prepares the fingerings, as the final return in g minor in the clarion uses those same fingerings.
