Kobolds are mischeivous creatures from Germanic folklore that are often depicted as small, impish humanoids with a love of practical jokes and mining.  Despite their tendency to cause trouble, kobolds can be helpful in the home if treated with respect.  In some stories, they are believed to perform chores such as sweeping, washing dishes, and even babysitting children in exchange for small offerings of food and drink.  However, if a kobold is mistreated or neglected, they can become vengeful and bring bad luck to the household.  If forgotten or deliberately denied their food offerings, they may cause mischief or even harm to people and property.
