Kinetic Patterns - Chromatic Warm-ups for Violin

Kinetic Patterns are warm-up exercises composed by Dr. Piotr Szewczyk. They
cover chromatically almost the entire fingerboard and can be used in conjunction
with any scales/arpeggios as a daily routine.

How to use it:
Kinetic Patterns are organized as full and condensed versions.
Full patterns are the same on the way up and down, and move chromatically to
the next position from the bottom note.
Condensed patterns use next descending chromatic pattern on the way down,
essentially condensing it by half.

Both Full and Condensed Patterns have four versions:
A. Major Ascending
B. Minor Ascending
C. Major Descending
D. Minor Descending

First line of each pattern is carefully explained and annotated with fingerings,
strings and any shifting or common note anchors. Use the same fingerings as
you move to the next lines in the same exercise.

Minor versions use the same fingerings as Major, so detailed explanations
are omitted for clarity. Refer to the Major pattern for full explanation.

Patterns should be first learned slowly, paying careful attention to the kinetic
aspect of finger movements (anchors and shifting) and string crossings. Then
gradually increase speed. In faster tempo one bow per measure can be used.
After getting comfortable with Full Patterns, Condensed Patterns can be used
more often for a quick and efficient warm-up, mixing Minor and Major
versions for variety.

For a quick warm-up, patterns can be mixed and matched at will, pick a few
at a time, no need to play through the whole book every day!

Have fun!
