I composed this intermezzo in late 2023 and early 2024 in honor of my late uncle, Gerald C. Wagner, Jr. (1943-2023), who passed away right before Christmas on Deceember 23. I quoted his favorite Christmas carol in the piece, Carol of the Bells. He was a lifelong singer and greatly enjoyed vocal music and also the holidays. Uncle Jerry was my mother's only sibling and younger brother. The piece is in Intro-A-B-A-Coda form. I would acknowledge there are some influences of the cinematic music of Randy Newman in this piece, such as from his film score to Awakenings (1990), especially in the B section. I hope you enjoy this piece!
